midnight ramblings

There was a time in life, when everything was simple. There were no hidden motives, no secrets. People were what you thought they were. Sadly we all grew up. Best friends became lovers and those lovers tore us apart right in front of our own closed eyes. We no longer saw them for who they were but for who they used to be. We saw memories. Not people. We fell so madly in love with those memories that we became blind to who that person really was. Failed to understand what they were actually doing to us. Losing ourselves to their games. As children we were happy: innocent. But as we grew up we changed. Change…no it wasn’t a change in them it was a change in us. We finally opened our eyes. We saw them, for the first time in years. And the pain caused by finally opening our eyes, well I doubt we’ll ever forget that. But we just can’t keep living with our eyes closed, so we’ll have to endure the pain otherwise they’ll break us.

We’re not kids anymore. We can’t play pretend now, it will only hurt us more in the end.

hey i’ve been thinking about writing short stories, so heres a sample, please let me know what you think

Liz sat smiling back at Hunni whom had decided to start a smiling plus staring competition. A slight giggle escaped her lips as she stared at Hunni’s super serious completely concentrated smiling unblinking face. She couldn’t do this. It was far too funny; she burst out laughing, closing her eyes and rolling around on the ground. Hunni smiled triumphantly, “I win.” She announced. The childish pride in her voice resounding clearly in the empty space. They were in Liz’s room; her neat pristine, completely organised, everything has a place, bedroom. In which they were supposed to be studying. Supposed to be. That seemed to be a very common word nowadays; almost every time Liz planned to help Hunni study they always ended up playing some childish game instead of doing what they were supposed to do.

She was supposed to be teaching Hunni algebra.

Yes that was what they were supposed to be doing. Instead they had been having staring competitions and dancing around. Liz was usually so strict about these kinds of things, but Hunni just brought about a simple joy. It was something Liz didn’t quite understand. But she loved that she was so simple, loved that Hunni always seemed to have such a calm and simple attitude about her.

“So should we get started now?” Liz purred so as not to ruin Hunni’s mood. Hunni was still sat with her eyes held open and her lips pulled tight into a broad smile. She looked ridiculous. But Liz had to at least try and get some work done. Some. Before Hunni Liz would have completed every piece of work without hesitating. She wasn’t fun. There wasn’t time to be fun. Fun wouldn’t get you a job and a sustainable career. No, Liz had always been a hard worker. “Hunni!” she grumbled. Hunni’s lips returned to their to a more natural smile and she blinked furiously trying to get the moisture back to her.
